A good question! And one I have tried my best to answer in a complete re-write of my book "Within You, Without You". It is entitled - you guessed it- WHY THE BEATLES and is due for publication within the next month or so. It is the most comprehensive book written on The Beatles within the context of their times and their contemporaries.
