SULA BASSANA/ SKYJOGGERS -Split LP (Sulatron Records) (2004)

Wow, Skyjoggers are loud! Subsequent to the Dazed and Spaced Festival in Hamburg, Dave Schmidt (Sula Bassana) has coordinated this split album. The music of the guitar/ bass/ drums Finnish group Skyjoggers takes no prisoners on two, riff driven, high octane, guitar wig-outs from their 37 Steps 'til Midnight album and a more laid-back, Jimi Hendrix style bluesy cosmic excursion on ...For Outer Space, a live staple from their debut album Journeymen in 2018, recorded from their 100th live performance in Hamburg.

Sula Bassana are represented by two tracks from their live set: the ruminative (not loud!) Hawkwind-like We Will Make It from their Nostalgia album and a new track, Come with Me, an improvisation with lyrics and vocals by Adrian Grod, played by Dave‘s live band, with some organ, synth and mellotron by Sula himself. The contrast between the more spacey approach of Sula Bassana and the hard driven rock of Skyjoggers makes for an exhilarating audio experience. The album is available on randomly coloured 500 limited 180g vinyl.
