ONIRICO – EX-NIHILO (Mylodon Records) (2024) (Bandcamp)

Wow, this is good! Just two musicians from Argentina: Benjamin Hernandez who is the lead singer, bassist and keyboard player including synth, and Jorge Ostos on electric guitar and mellotron, as well as programming the drums (Don’t worry, it’s well done!) aided by guest Massim Rahmani, an acoustic guitarist who also delivers a blazing lead guitar solo. Eleven minutes long and crackling with ideas and great sounding instrumental work and vocals, the song also asks big questions, “What is life?” and “What am I?” – and why not, grand ambitious prog that the band says is in the style of BLACKFIELD; this music will also appeal to STEVEN WILSON devotees.
