It’s nice to see Glasgow guitarist Jim Mullen, who played with Vinegar Joe, Brian Auger’s Oblivion Express, with Dick Morrissey and has led his own award-winning jazz organ trio making selections of albums he can’t live without in the latest edition of JAZZWISE magazine. I still remember with fondness meeting Jim in the Montrose Jazz Club and doing an interview which turned out being handwritten by post! I won’t give away too many spoilers, but the choices of albums are both interesting and perhaps surprising, with particular reference to the albums by John Coltrane and Miles Davis that he selected. The album I am encouraged to check out personally is “Everything is Everything” by Donny Hathaway from 1970. Now how am I going to get the time?
