The brothers Simon and Shane Felton are back with a shiny new power pop album with flair, sentimentality and charm and twelve new songs about being somebody else just for one day (my favourite from the album, entitled ‘I Want to Be You’ -definitely a ‘hit’ in another time), jealousy, obsession, alien abduction, the ageing process (about seizing the day and waving goodbye and saying hello on ‘Read All About It’), and depression (‘The Beautiful Room is Empty’ with nice vocal harmonies and shimmering guitars). The music is guitar, bass and drums based with nice little touches such as the synth on ‘Broken Telephone’. while ‘Raspberry Juice’ introduces a wisp of psychedelia into the mix. Nostalgic, engaging music that makes you yearn for ‘the old days’.
